Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, and it's a weekly meme all about the books that are coming out soon that we really can't wait to read.
This is my WoW this week, and it includes two books, one of which admittidly bend the rules a little...

Synopsis from Patricia McCormick's Website:
When Private Matt Duffy wakes up in an army hospital in Iraq, he's honored with a Purple Heart. But he doesn't feel like a hero. There's a memory that haunts him: an image of a young Iraqi boy as a bullet hits his chest. Matt can't shake the feeling that he was somehow involved in his death. But because of a head injury, he can't quite seem to put all the pieces together.
Eventually Matt is sent back into combat with his squad. He just wants to go back to being the soldier he once was. But he sees potential threats everywhere and lives in fear of not being able to pull the trigger when the time comes. In combat there is no black-and-white, and Matt soon discovers that the notion of who is guilty is very complicated indeed.

This looks so good and really thought-provocative. I can't wait for this to come out so I can get the chance to see if it's as good as it looks from the blurb!

Saving Zoë
By: Alyson Noël
Published:15th February 2011
Synopsis from Alyson Noel's Website:
One dead sister's secrets save the other's life—in more ways than one...
It's been one year since the brutal murder of her sister, Zoë, and fifteen year old Echo is still reeling from the aftermath. Her parents are numb, her friends are moving on, and the awkward start to her freshman year proves she'll never live up to her sister's memory.
Until Zoë's former boyfriend Marc shows up with her diary.
At first Echo's not interested, doubting there's anything in there she doesn't already know. But when curiosity prevails, she starts reading, becoming so immersed in her sister's secret world, their lives begin to blur, forcing Echo to uncover the truth behind Zoë's life, so that she can start to rebuild her own.
Prepare to laugh your heart out and cry your eyes out in this highly addictive tale, as Alyson Noël tackles the complicated relationship between two sisters and shows how the bond can endure long after one of them is gone.
This is a reprint, to tell the truth, but it just looked so brilliant I couldn't help putting it down. I love the new cover: so much better than the old one in my opinion. It looks so sweet and lets face it: everyone likes a book that makes them have a good cry now and again!

Wow, Purple Heart sounds amazing, albeit emotionally taxing, but I always love those kinds of reads. I like the new cover for Saving Zoe too, it's more simple and appealing I think:) Great WOW picks!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I love a good emotional read once in a while.
