Cover Crazy is a meme held (normally) on Mondays, and is hosted by Tawni at The Book Worms. The whole point is to admire a cover you love, focusing why it caught your attention and what you like most about it.
Mine is late this week, but there are too many covers! Has anyone else noticed that? Anyway, the Cover I'm Crazy about this week is...
The Highgate Vampire
By: Asa Bailey
Published: 3rd November 2011
Synopsis From Goodreads:
Kathy is an innocent, an outsider who longs to belong somewhere. Anywhere. Dreams of her half-sister Amber and of the centuries old Highgate Vampire are taking her to places she doesn't want to go. Kathy can't stop the sequence of events. If her nightmares and reality collide, the Highgate Vampire will come to take her soul...
Well, it's safe to say I love this cover. I love the way the red stands out against all the blacks, whites and grays; the bright bold letters, and the font are really effective. And the hair looks brilliant as well, adding texture and a little mayhem to the cover. As I look at the hair, it makes me think: what's this meant to signify? Is it hinting at a dark, tangled storyline? Looking back at the title, and the red used, I wonder: Does the colour mean there's bloodshed or danger? And who is 'the legend' mentioned - are they bad? Are they good?
But what really caught my attention is the look in the girl's eyes. She looks scared, or maybe startled. Perhaps at said legend? Or is it because of something else?
So: Why is she scared? What does the messy hair mean? Why blood red, almost faded letters? Why stick to blacks and whites? More importantly: who is the legend?
And all of this is just from looking at the cover. A complete mayhem-filled flood of questions, almost on the verge of rambling. But all I know is that I really, really, really want to read this book!
Ok. Babbling over now.
Back on topic. What do you guys make of this book, or what cover are you crazy about?
(And I think that my post was a little iffy the other day, and half of it didn't show up... Sorry if that's right!)
I really like her hair! I've never heard of this book before, I'll have to look it up!
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of this series either. I like the simple colors used and the windblown hair.
ReplyDeleteI never give covers that much thought, though I have to admit that when I firs came to your blog I immediately noticed the cover of Halo by Alexandra Adornetto in your currently reading section. It made me curious about the book and I thought the cover was intriguing.
ReplyDeleteNow I'm curious about the book. I look forward to your review.
What a gorgeous cover!! Thanks for stopping by my blog, I'm a new follower :)
ReplyDeleteI can see why you chose this cover - it's fantastic! Now I'm looking forward to the release date. :)
ReplyDeleteI like all the hair craziness in this cover, it makes for a nice image and is striking since it's so dark against the white background and her white skin:) Love the red lettering as well, beautiful pick!
