On My Wishlist (#5)

On My Wishlist is an awesome weekly meme hosted by Book Chick City that runs every Saturday.  It's a place where you can put up all the books you're desperate to read, but haven't actually bought them yet.  They can be old, new or forthcoming.    And, even better, everyone can join in with too, because there's a Mr Linky so you can put your post up.  All you have to do is click on the link below:

Possessions (Possessions, #1)Possessions
Series: Possessions, Book One
By: Nancy Holder
Published: 8th October 2009
Found: On Natalie (Mindful Musings)'s Blog
Synopsis From Goodreads:
The It Girl meets The Exorcist in this chilling, haunted boarding school tale.
New-girl Lindsay discovers all is not right at the prestigious Marlwood Academy for Girls. Ethereal, popular Mandy and her clique are plotting something dangerous. Lindsay overhears them performing strange rituals, and sees their eyes turn black. It doesn't help that the school itself is totally eerie, with ancient, dilapidated buildings tucked into the Northern California woods, a thick white fog swirling through campus. There are hidden passageways, odd reflections in the windows at night, and scariest of all is the vast lake rumored to have captured the ghost of a girl who drowned many years ago.
What Lindsay doesn't yet realize is that Mandy and her cohorts are becoming possessed by spirits who have haunted the school for two hundred years. Spirits who want someone dead...
And that someone is Lindsay.
The whole: "It Girl meets The Exorcist" sounds a little wierd, but I love the sound of this story!  And the "Mirror, Mirror On The Wall... Which Girl Will Be The Next To Fall?"  Chills!

The Opposite of AmberThe Opposite of Amber
By: Gillian Philip
Published: April 4th 2011
Found: On Sammee (I Want To Read That)'s Blog

Synopsis From Goodreads:
'They found the fifth girl right after the snow melted ...the place where he left her was winter water, crazed with ice-feathers and dusted with snow. The traces from her body were gone, the ones that said his name, but she had an extra skin of ice that protected her and she looked perfect, like Snow White'.
Ruby and her older sister Jinn live together on their own, just about making ends meet. Jinn is beautiful, with glittering blonde hair, and makes it her business to look after Ruby. They are horrified by, but try to ignore, the local newspaper stories of prostitutes who are murdered, their bodies eventually discovered underwater. Then the no-good Nathan Baird turns up on the scene - again - and Jinn starts to change. First Nathan moves in with Jinn and Ruby, making Ruby feel an outsider, and then Jinn and Nathan move out, leaving Ruby alone. Jinn no longer has time to look after Ruby. And it seems to Ruby that Jinn herself needs looking after. Her beautiful glittering hair starts to lose its shine. And then Jinn disappears. A deeply moving, chilling, and incredibly powerful thriller that celebrates the love two sisters have for each other and mourns the events beyond their control that will conspire to drive them apart.
This looks amazing: so great!  And the cover is just beautiful!

As Grace pours her tangled life onto the page, she is forced to remember everything she's tried to forget. There's falling hopelessly in love with the gorgeous Nat, and the unravelling of her relationship with her best friend Sal. But there's something missing. As hard as she's trying to remember, is there something she just can't see?
Grace must face the most important question of all. Why is she here?
A story of dark secrets, intense friendship and electrifying attraction.
O.M.G.  This looks so incredible it's untrue, and all the reviews I've seen have been really positive.  And I just love the cover: the gorgeous red floral pattern against the white skin, shockingly red hair and nails, wide, scared eyes.  It all goes together and is just so beautiful. Love it.  And the book sounds absolutely breathtaking.  I think this is probably at the top of my 'Wanted' list.

Born at Midnight
Series: Shadow Falls, Book One
By: C. C. Hunter
Published: May 2011
Found: On Jenny (Supernatural Snark)'s Blog

Synopsis From Goodreads:
"Don’t miss this spectacular new series that will steal your heart and haunt your dreams,  Welcome to Shadow Falls camp, nestled deep in the woods of a town called Fallen…"
One night Kylie Galen finds herself at the wrong party, with the wrong people, and it changes her life forever.  Her mother ships her off to Shadow Falls—a camp for troubled teens, and within hours of arriving, it becomes painfully clear that her fellow campers aren’t just “troubled.”  Here at Shadow Falls, vampires, werewolves, shapshifters, witches and fairies train side by side—learning to harness their powers, control their magic and live in the normal world.
Kylie’s never felt normal, but surely she doesn’t belong here with a bunch of paranormal freaks either.  Or does she?  They insist Kylie is one of them, and that she was brought here for a reason.  As if life wasn’t complicated enough, enter Derek and Lucas.  Derek’s a half-fae who’s determined to be her boyfriend, and Lucas is a smokin’ hot werewolf with whom Kylie shares a secret past.  Both Derek and Lucas couldn’t be more different, but they both have a powerful hold on her heart.
Even though Kylie feels deeply uncertain about everything, one thing is becoming painfully clear—Shadow Falls is exactly where she belongs…
Looking forwards to this one!  And I really like the cover: the gorgeous purply-branches against the pale purple background, the beautiful bright pink.  And the story line looks good too. ;)

The Splendor FallsThe Splendor Falls
By: Rosemary Clement-Moore
Published: 8th September 2009
Found: On Small Review's Blog

Synopsis From Goodreads:
Sylvie Davis is a ballerina who can’t dance. A broken leg ended her career, but Sylvie’s pain runs deeper. What broke her heart was her father’s death, and what’s breaking her spirit is her mother’s remarriage—a union that’s only driven an even deeper wedge into their already tenuous relationship.
Uprooting her from her Manhattan apartment and shipping her to Alabama is her mother’s solution for Sylvie’s unhappiness. Her father’s cousin is restoring a family home in a town rich with her family’s history. And that’s where things start to get shady. As it turns out, her family has a lot more history than Sylvie ever knew. More unnerving, though, are the two guys that she can’t stop thinking about. Shawn Maddox, the resident golden boy, seems to be perfect in every way. But Rhys—a handsome, mysterious foreign guest of her cousin’s—has a hold on her that she doesn’t quite understand.
Then she starts seeing things. Sylvie’s lost nearly everything—is she starting to lose her mind as well?
Looks like a really good book, and I absolutely adore the cover: the flower somehow looks like a hole to fall into and the blood dripping down is awesome.  I've heard lots of positive reviews as well.

Unearthly (Unearthly, #1)Unearthly
Series: Unearthly Trilogy, Book One
By: Cynthia Hand
Published: 4th January 2011
Found: On Athena (The Book Bubble)'s Blog

Synopsis From Goodreads:
In the beginning, there's a boy standing in the trees . . . .
Clara Gardner has recently learned that she's part angel. Having angel blood run through her veins not only makes her smarter, stronger, and faster than humans (a word, she realizes, that no longer applies to her), but it means she has a purpose, something she was put on this earth to do. Figuring out what that is, though, isn't easy.
Her visions of a raging forest fire and an alluring stranger lead her to a new school in a new town. When she meets Christian, who turns out to be the boy of her dreams (literally), everything seems to fall into place—and out of place at the same time. Because there's another guy, Tucker, who appeals to Clara's less angelic side.
As Clara tries to find her way in a world she no longer understands, she encounters unseen dangers and choices she never thought she'd have to make—between honesty and deceit, love and duty, good and evil. When the fire from her vision finally ignites, will Clara be ready to face her destiny?
Unearthly is a moving tale of love and fate, and the struggle between following the rules and following your heart.
Unearthly looks amazing - just amazing!  And I've seen positive reviews all round.  Angels: so loving them at the moment (even the one's who aren't in trench coats ;) !)  Plus, gotta love the cover: so, so, so, so gorgeous!  I swear I'd buy this book just for the cover.

My Wishlist is back to it's usual - insanely long - self.  Glad to see!  Anyway, that's what I'm a-wishin' for!

What Are You Wishing For This Week?
