Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, and it's a weekly meme all about the books that are coming out soon that we really can't wait to read.
So, back to my random choices, all out 5th May. Some are reprints, or books that have just come out in paperback, but they all look ah-maz-ing!
So, bringing on the randomnes...

Synopsis From Goodreads:
From National Book Award winner Judy Blundell, the tale of a sixteen-year-old girl caught in a mix of love, mystery, Broadway glamour, and Mob retribution in 1950 New York.
When Kit Corrigan arrives in New York City, she doesn't have much. She's fled from her family in Providence, Rhode Island, and she's broken off her tempestuous relationship with a boy named Billy, who's enlisted in the army.
The city doesn't exactly welcome her with open arms. She gets a bit part as a chorus girl in a Broadway show, but she knows that's not going to last very long. She needs help--and then it comes, from an unexpected source.
Nate Benedict is Billy's father. He's also a lawyer involved in the mob. He makes Kit a deal--he'll give her an apartment and introduce her to a new crowd. All she has to do is keep him informed about Billy . . . and maybe do him a favor every now and then.
As she did in her National Book Award-winning What I Saw and How I Lied, Judy Blundell traps readers in a web of love, deceit, intrigue, and murder. The result? One stunner of a novel.
Looks like an awesome piece of YA Historical fiction. And I love me some historical fiction. ;)

Synopsis From Goodreads:
After a tsunami causes massive devastation to a tropical island, its governor sends in the bulldozers to knock down villages, replacing them with luxury hotels.
Guarding the corrupt governor's family isn't James Adams' idea of the perfect mission, especially as it's going to be his last as a CHERUB agent. And then retired colleague Kyle Blueman comes up with an unofficial and highly dangerous plan of his own.
James must choose between loyalty to CHERUB, and loyalty to his oldest friend.

Now, theses are a little bit of a guilty-pleasure. I love the Cherub series; they're so action-packed! I'm behind on the series at the moment, but I'm looking forwards to seeing how James' last mission ever goes. Plus, there's that whole: "Is This The End For Cherub?" which is quite eep-worthy.

Synopsis From Amazon:
"That's where I should have started the story. I sat for ages in the dark, with my head in a swirl. My thoughts were spinning round and round, like clothes in a washing machine. Bruising, I thought. Alcoholic. Social worker. Foster care. Scum. School. Measles. Cow. Mobile phone. Danielle. That was the beginning. But I'd forgotten that until now. I mean, but it's amazing what you can forget ..."
It all started when Gramma died. And then Jonathan and Julie had only apples for dinner. Apples, an alcoholic mother, and one big bruise on Julie's face. Jonathan had no choice but to pack their schoolbags and run away, far from Ma ...
Until the police catch up with them and take Julie away and lock up Jono. And through his questioning, Jonathan must finally confront the real truth.
A powerful tale of one boy's mission to protect his younger sister ... no matter what the cost.

Synopsis From Goodreads:
My life had always been blissfully, wonderfully normal. But it only took one moment to change everything.
Suddenly, my sister, Georgia, and I were orphans. We put our lives into storage and moved to Paris to live with my grandparents. And I knew my shattered heart, my shattered life, would never feel normal again. Then I met Vincent.
Mysterious, sexy, and unnervingly charming, Vincent Delacroix appeared out of nowhere and swept me off my feet. Just like that, I was in danger of losing my heart all over again. But I was ready to let it happen.
Of course, nothing is ever that easy. Because Vincent is no normal human. He has a terrifying destiny, one that puts his life at risk every day. He also has enemies . . . immortal, murderous enemies who are determined to destroy him and all of his kind.
While I'm fighting to piece together the remnants of my life, can I risk putting my heart—as well as my life and my family's—in jeopardy for a chance at love?
I've heard soo many great things about this, and I so want to read it! Looks so amazing!

I've been wanting to rad Angel Kiss too. And I've heard a lot of good things about Die For Me, so I'd say you'll like that!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment, now I'm extra-eager to read VA! If it's your favourite series, I'm sure it's awesome! I've actually temporarily put The Fool's Girl on hold because I have a couple of other books I need to read first, but when I do get round to reading it again, I'll let you know! Thanks for your offer about leaving a message on the Red House website, but it's fine, I wouldn't want you to go to the trouble for something I could do myself! Thanks anyway!
There are a few on your list I will have to add to my TBR pile :)

ReplyDeleteRebecca: Thanks!
ReplyDeleteCliona: Oh, I so want them! I like pretty much anything. It's an on-going joke with my family. ;)
You are most welcome: it's amazing! I've encouraged *cough-forced-cough* it on my cousin, who isn't much for YA, and she loved it. Hope you like it! Cool, thanks. I have an account, plus I'm on RedHouse all the time, so I wouldn't mind. It'd give me an excuse. ;)
Sharon: Brilliant! Glad to help, or not help. Depending on the way you look at it. ;)
Jenny: Gotta love Amazon: so many new releases! Me neither! It looks amazing!
Thanks for your comments!
These look seriously good! XD Excuse me while I add these to my terribly long list of books I need to get . . .
ReplyDeleteLove the sound of Bruised!
ReplyDeleteSonny: Don't they! Oh, so know what you mean! I have, like, 10 pages of books I need to get... ok, maybe exaggerating..
