Summer Reading Smackdown Challenge!

Ok, so I was talking to Charli (To Another World/Charli's Book Blog) on Twitter (the tease) and she was telling me that her and Cat (Through A Cat's Eyes) were planning something big.  She refused to tell me what.  Meanie. ;)  But the surprise was... an awesome Summer Reading Smackdown Challenge!!!  When I saw the categories I jumped on the challenge like it was made of chocolate!  These categories provided me the perfect opportunity to read books I've been meaning to read for ages...  Awesome!  And they are...

• Read a book you've been meaning to read for ages and review on your blog.
  Probably going to be Divergent by 
• Read one recommendation from a friend or blogger and review it on your blog.
  Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles (I know, Sammee, I swear to God I'll read it this time!!!
• Write a paragraph in the POV of your favourite character and share on your blog.
  Ooh, this is a good one!!  I can't choose just yet...  I'll have a think!! :D
• Read a book from each of these genres: Dystopian, fantasy, contemporary and romance.
  Dystopian: Divergent by Veronica Ross
  Fantasy: Magic Study by Maria V. Snyder - currently reading and LOVING it!
  Contemporary: Hurt by Tabitha Suzuma
  Romance: Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles

2013 TBR Pile Reading Challenge

I have so, so many books on my TBR shelf and I always seem to be distracted by new books.  So I'm entering a TBR Pile challenge again this year in hopes it will encourage me to read more from my TBR shelf. Fingers crossed!  It's holded by the awesome blog Bookish.  Anyway, this one looks so much fun: not only are we reading the books from 2012 and before, but there are also loads of challenges and prizes to be won!  Check it all out by clicking on the picture:

There are five levels. I've decided to start at the middle and work up, so I'm going for 20-31 books: A Sweet Kiss. Aww. ;)

Debut Author Challenge 2013

Ok, so I love love love reading books by debut authors.  Last year I had loads of fun doing this challenge, so I've followed it over to its new host: the brilliant Hobbitsies.  My goal?  To win 12 debut author books in 2013.  Yay!

Any YA debut novel published between January 1, 2013 and December 30, 2013 count. To complete the challenge you have to read a minimum of 12 debut novels between January 1, 2013 – January 31, 2014.

Ok, in 2011, I was shocked by how few British books I read.  In 2012, I read 53 - YESS!!  So I'm going for 50 again.  I'm totally determined to read WAY more though!

I love love love contemps and think I really should read way more of them than I do.  So that's why I decided to enter this last year, and this year too.  It's hosted by Katie's Book Blog and has three different levels: 

Level 1: 5+ Books

Level 3: 15+ Books
