Synopsis From Goodreads:
When Claire Miller turned eighteen all she wanted to do was celebrate her birthday, but after a night on the town with her best friend she awakes to a visitor she never expected. The rulers of her region, a vampire royal family, have chosen her to be turned as their new heir and vampire princess. Claire quickly discovers the royal family is not what they seem and that she has secrets in her past, she never knew existed.

                                                                   Review:
Claire has just turned eighteen.  She’s looking forward to partying with her best friend, Liz.  But first she has to get her Donor ID card.  Claire lives in a society protected by the Vampire Royal family.  All the vampires ask in return for this protection is regular blood donations.  Now she’s eighteen, Claire must get her blood checked out, to make sure it’s all ok for the royal family.  Only, Claire’s blood is special.  And she is chosen to be the vampire Princess.  Should be a dream come true, shouldn’t it?  Well, it isn’t.  Claire has to leave her family, friends and the only life she’s ever known.  And once in her new home, she finds out that someone is out to get her.  But all is not as it seems – including Claire herself…
I loved this book!  It had blood, mystery, romance and friendship.  I was sucked into the world, with all the different regions, different behaviour, and order in each.  It was really interesting.  And I loved the characters!  Robin especially.  Though I wasn’t sure who I could trust sometimes!  Plus, Megan did the story in a way that had obvious meanies, but hidden threats.  I may have to reread the book, see if there are any clues…
Claire was cool, just an ordinary, relatable teenage girl who happens to have been chosen to be a vampire.  She did ‘normal’ stuff, such as talking to herself when she got really mad, and was also scared of needles.  I loved that teenager side: the way she refused to pay attention in class and therefore knew next to nothing about vampires.  She was also very independent and stubborn as hell.  But, sometimes, there were just moments when I felt like yelling at her.  In her defence, though, she did just have to leave behind everyone she loved, everything she knew and she didn’t even have a choice.  Even in the moments when I wanted to shake her, I felt so sorry for her!
Robin Willow was really cheerful and super nice.  She was incredibly hyper, cheerful and her bonkers moods were just unbelievably infectious.  Obsessed with history, she was so cute and just like a little kid sometimes.  Also, she was completely, wonderfully mad.  I already mentioned this, but she was my very favourite character!  And the friendship between Claire and Robin was too cute!  They were so sweet, teasing one another, and their relationship felt completely believable.
There were many vampires.  You have King Nicolae and Queen Evilyn, both of who were kind and regal.  The Willows, who were responsible for documenting history, were also very loving.  The Ravens… not so nice.  They were ‘real vampires’, dressed all in black, cold and quiet.  And the daughter, Ana, urgh!  Hated her!  Though, I have to admit, hating her was rather addictive!  And the Orlovs: the family who have the gorgeous Dmitry.  He was so cute, and his fascination with humans was just downright adorable.  And the scenes between him and Claire… perfect.  He was wonderful: a perfect, swoon-worthy love interest.
But, the plot thickens.  There is a second, mysterious guy.  I see the potential for Teams.  I have chosen mine.
The world was great, but what made this book truly special was the vampires.  They were like our celebrities.  Everyone looked up to them, almost as if they were some sort of gods or higher beings.  It was really different, seeing as in most books the vampires are hidden or hated – or often both.
Although there were a few points that I was uncertain of, such as Claire’s irrational reaction of being chosen (she didn’t seem overly resentful after, which I know I would be) and the occasional lack of contractions, overall I loved this book.  Honestly, I was hooked, desperate to know what would happen to Claire.  Plus, there was a massive twist at the end!  One I honestly did not see coming.  Which is why I will end with: I need book two!  I HAVE to know what happens next!
