Waiting on Wednesday (#33)

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, and it's a weekly meme all about the books that are coming out soon that we really can't wait to read.

Phew.  It's been forever since I've done a WoW!  On my list this week is...

Changeling (Order of Darkness, #1)Changeling
Series: Order of Darkness, Book One
By: Philippa Gregory
Published: 24th May 2012
Published By: Simon&Schuster
Found: On Amazon

Synopsis From Goodreads:
Dark myths, medieval secrets, intrigue, and romance populate the pages of the first-ever teen series from #1 bestselling author of The Other Boleyn Girl

Italy, 1453. Seventeen-year-old Luca Vero is brilliant, gorgeous—and accused of heresy. Cast out of his religious order for using the new science to question old superstitious beliefs, Luca is recruited into a secret sect: The Order of the Dragon, commissioned by Pope Nicholas V to investigate evil and danger in its many forms, and strange occurrences across Europe, in this year—the end of days.

Isolde is a seventeen-year-old girl shut up in a nunnery so she can’t inherit any of her father’s estate. As the nuns walk in their sleep and see strange visions, Isolde is accused of witchcraft—and Luca is sent to investigate her, but finds himself plotting her escape.

Despite their vows, despite themselves, love grows between Luca and Isolde as they travel across Europe with their faithful companions, Freize and Ishraq. The four young people encounter werewolves, alchemists, witches, and death-dancers as they head toward a real-life historical figure who holds the boundaries of Christendom and the secrets of the Order of the Dragon.
The first in a series, this epic and richly detailed drama is grounded in historical communities and their mythic beliefs. It includes a medieval map of Europe that will track their journey; and the interior will include relevant decorative elements as well as an interior line illustration. And look for a QR code that links to a note from the author with additional, detailed information about the setting and the history that informed the writing. With Philippa Gregory’s trademark touch, this novel deftly brings the past—and its salacious scandals—vividly and disturbingly to life.

Oooh!!  I'm really excited about this one!  :D

Synopsis From Goodreads:

Generations ago, a genetic experiment gone wrong—the Reduction—decimated humanity, giving rise to a Luddite nobility who outlawed most technology.

Elliot North has always known her place in this world. Four years ago Elliot refused to run away with her childhood sweetheart, the servant Kai, choosing duty to her family’s estate over love. Since then the world has changed: a new class of Post-Reductionists is jumpstarting the wheel of progress, and Elliot’s estate is foundering, forcing her to rent land to the mysterious Cloud Fleet, a group of shipbuilders that includes renowned explorer Captain Malakai Wentforth—an almost unrecognizable Kai. And while Elliot wonders if this could be their second chance, Kai seems determined to show Elliot exactly what she gave up when she let him go.

But Elliot soon discovers her old friend carries a secret—one that could change their society . . . or bring it to its knees. And again, she’s faced with a choice: cling to what she’s been raised to believe, or cast her lot with the only boy she’s ever loved, even if she’s lost him forever.

Inspired by Jane Austen’s PersuasionFor Darkness Shows the Stars is a breathtaking romance about opening your mind to the future and your heart to the one person you know can break it.
This just sounds amazing - can't wait for it to come out!!

Alice in Zombieland (White Rabbit Chronicles, #1)
Alice in Zombieland
Series: White Rabbit Chronicles, Book One

Published: 25th September 2012
Published By: Harlequin Teen
Found: On Amazon

Synopsis From Goodreads:

She won’t rest until she’s sent every walking corpse back to its grave. Forever.

Had anyone told Alice Bell that her entire life would change course between one heartbeat and the next, she would have laughed. From blissful to tragic, innocent to ruined? Please. But that’s all it took. One heartbeat. A blink, a breath, a second, and everything she knew and loved was gone.

Her father was right. The monsters are real….

To avenge her family, Ali must learn to fight the undead. To survive, she must learn to trust the baddest of the bad boys, Cole Holland. But Cole has secrets of his own, and if Ali isn’t careful, those secrets might just prove to be more dangerous than the zombies….

"I wish I could go back and do a thousand things differently.

"I'd tell my sister no.

"I'd never beg my mother to talk to my dad.

"I'd zip my lips and swallow those hateful words.

"Or, barring all of that, I'd hug my sister, my mom and my dad one last time.

"I'd tell them I love them.

"I wish... Yeah, I wish."

This might be the one I'm most excited about!  Alice in Wonderland and zombies?!  Gimme gimme gimme!! ;)

So, that's my list!

Alice in Zombieland looks great. Thanks for sharing these! I just finished another great read entitled, The Corporate Kid by Neil Shulman and Susan Wrathall. It's a rags to riches story that is uplifting and has a great message for young people about corporate responsibility. I highly recommend this one. You can find the authors' website here: http://www.thecorporatekid.com
