Waiting On Wednesday (#10)

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, and it's a weekly meme all about the books that are coming out soon that we really can't wait to read.

Well, I'm a little hectic and here-there-everywhere right now, so sorry if my memes or posts are a little late!  But, anyway, this week I'm a-waiting for...

Cold CaseCold Case
By: Julia Leonard
Published: 26th April 2011
Published By: Aladdin Paperbacks
Found: On Amazon

Synopsis From Goodreads:
When 13-year-old Oz Keillor finds a dead body in his family restaurant, he is soon caught up in a mystery where the stakes are high. His older brother is the prime suspect, and Oz quickly finds out that the murder may be tied to the death of their father years earlier, who was accused of selling nuclear secrets to rouge governments.
With the fate of his family in balance, it's up to Oz to try and crack the case, with the help of his best friend, Rusty. It's a quest that has more twists and turns than the dusty roads of New Mexico—with the answer being closer to home than Oz ever could have imagined.
I really like the sound of this one, even if it... well, probably not quite 'young adult'.  I love a good mystery, and this sounds like a brilliant one!

But the apocalypse is drawing near. And the Night World and the human world are about to collide in a cataclysmic way.
Sarah Strange is a normal teenager with annoying siblings and a crush on two boys, Mal and Kierlan, who happen to be her best friends. But Sarah also has visions. After waiting over ten years for this Night World novel, fans will devour STRANGE FATE, the stunning conclusion to this beloved, NYT bestselling series!
OMG!  I don't know if any of you have read this series, but I love it!  Vampires, werewolves, witches, secret societies, forbidden romances... amazing, amazing, amazing!  And this is the "Dramatic Conclusion" to the series!  I don't want it to end!  Ok, I'll stop now.  I just really want this book/audio CD. :)

The LocketThe Locket

Published By: Razorbill
Found: On Amazon

Synopsis From Goodreads:
On her seventeenth birthday, Katie discovers a locket and decides to wear it for good luck. But when her boyfriend Isaac finds out she cheated on him— with their mutual best friend Mitch, no less—he dumps her, leaving her devastated.
And then a miracle happens. The locket burns on Katie's chest and she feels herself going back two weeks in time, to the night she cheated with Mitch. At first, Kate is delighted to be a better girlfriend to Isaac this time around. But as other aspects of her life become inexplicably altered, she realizes that changing the past may have had a dangerous effect on her present.
Can she make things right before the locket destroys everything—and everyone—she loves?
Wow, time travel and unforseen consequences?  I'm there!  And the "How Far Would You Go For A Second Chance?" makes me think.  And I haven't even read the book! ;)

Exile (Aurelia, #2)Exile
By: Anne Osterlund
Published: 28th April 2011
Published By: Speak
Found: On Amazon

Synopsis From Goodreads:
Crown Princess Aurelia stands in the face of exile. Behind her are the sister who tried to kill her and the father who ignored it. In front of her are the entire kingdom and Robert—the friend she can't help but fall in love with. Aurelia may finally be living her dream . . . but danger is not far behind. When Aurelia and Robert are betrayed by the very guards assigned to protect them, their expedition becomes a fight for survival that carries them from frontier to desert sands. Even with a hunter on their tail, the risks—to their lives, the throne, their hearts—only fuels Aurelia's determination to see her kingdom. And when their perilous journey is finally complete, she will discover just how much her people need her, and just how much of a risk loving Robert can be.
I love a good historical novel, and though I haven't actually read Aurelia, the companion novel, I would love to read this one.  And, shamefully judging a book by its cover, isn't the silver sparkles and key pretty, especially with the gorgeous sunset in the background!?

Where She WentWhere She Went
Series: If I Stay, Book Two
By: Gayle Foreman
Published: 28th April 2011
Published By: Doubleday Childrens
Found: Everywhere!  Honestly, where isn't this book at the moment?

Synopsis From Goodreads:
I Recommend That If You Haven't Read If I Stay, And Want To Read It, You Don't Read This Synopsis.
It's been three years since the devastating accident . . . three years since Mia walked out of Adam's life forever.
Now living on opposite coasts, Mia is Juilliard's rising star and Adam is LA tabloid fodder, thanks to his new rock star status and celebrity girlfriend. When Adam gets stuck in New York by himself, chance brings the couple together again, for one last night. As they explore the city that has become Mia's home, Adam and Mia revisit the past and open their hearts to the future and each other.
Told from Adam's point of view in the spare, lyrical prose that defined If I Stay, Where She Went explores the devastation of grief, the promise of new hope, and the flame of rekindled romance.
If I Stay is and was one of my favourite books ever.  I can still remember the plot, and I cried and laughed so much through the book.  It was amazing, and I was desperate to know more when I'd finished.  So when I saw Where She Went, I was so happy it was untrue!  I am desperate for this book, and look for it every time I go into a book store, but no luck yet.  I may have to just get it online...

BirthmarkedBirthmarked
Series: Birthmarker, Book One
By: Caragh M. O'Brien
Published: 28th April 2011
Published By: Simon & Schuster Childrens Books
Found: On Amazon: Where Else? ;)

Synopsis From Goodreads:
After climate change, on the north shore of Unlake Superior, a dystopian world is divided between those who live inside the wall, and those, like sixteen-year-old midwife Gaia Stone, who live outside. It’s Gaia’s job to “advance” a quota of infants from poverty into the walled Enclave, until the night one agonized mother objects, and Gaia’s parents are arrested.
Badly scarred since childhood, Gaia is a strong, resourceful loner who begins to question her society. As Gaia’s efforts to save her parents take her within the wall, she herself is arrested and imprisoned.
Fraught with difficult moral choices and rich with intricate layers of codes, BIRTHMARKED explores a colorful, cruel, eerily familiar world where one girl can make all the difference, and a real hero makes her own moral code.
Wow, this looks so amazing.  I seem to be very into my dystopia at the minute, and I have to say: this one looks like a brilliant one.

So, that's what I'm waiting for this week.  I have to say, the one I'm desperately waiting for is Where She Went.  Desperately, desperately waiting for!

What's got you desperately waiting this week?

Great choices! I enjoyed Exile (and Aurelia, too, although you don't necessarily need to read it first), and I'm giving away a copy on my blog, if you're interested :) Birthmarked looks really good, too.

Lily Bear: Thanks! I tried to get onto your blog, but it wouldn't let me: the internet wouldn't open it. Which is weird, because it's always worked til now... Sorry!
