Teaser Tuesday (#19)

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.

Here are the rules:
  • Open your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two "teaser" sentences from somewhere on that page
  • Be careful not to include spoilers!
  • Share the title and author too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR list if they like your teaser!

From Thin Air by Lynn Seresin, Chapter Twenty-Nine
The world of electronic devices was one of the most daunting challenges I faced in adapting to life on this place - and they seemed to be everywhere, beeping, whirring, vibrating, telling people what to do and when to do it, or just offering a diversion from boredom.  Humans seemed virtually incapable of living without them.
Thin Air (Thin Air Saga, Book One) by Lynn Seresin

Synopsis From Goodreads:
Alice Ayre is no ordinary teenager. She took her first name from a statue in Central Park, pulled her last name out of the air (literally), and she’s actually almost a thousand years old. In fact, the only “ordinary” thing about Alice is that she’s in love.
Alice was a sylphid—a winged air spirit—when she spotted Daniel Field camping in the Adirondacks and lost her heart to the handsome NYU student. Intangible to the human senses, her only hope of winning his heart resides in becoming mortal, even though transmutation is forbidden by Paralda, ruler of the air. Risking punishment, however, seems a small price to pay for a chance at true happiness.
Enraged over Alice’s departure, Paralda has sent transmuted assassins to pursue her into the human world. Alone with her secret–who would believe her?—Alice must elude a nameless, faceless enemy sworn to destroy the happy, new life she’s risked so much to achieve.
Loving this book!  I've so almost finished, and it's amazing so far!  Keep an eye out for my posts, and see a run down on the blog tour: here.

Legend of Witchtrot Road (Spirit Guide, #3)
From Legend of Witchtrot Road by E.J. Stevens, Chapter Two, Page 19
It was amazing what some tomato sauce and melted cheese could accomplish.  If I were writing a goth girl's guide to making peace, I'd have an entire chapter on pizza, the ultimate tool for conflict resolution.  Peace-zah?
Legend of Witchtrot Road (Spirit Guide, Book Three) by E.J. Stevens
Synopsis From Goodreads:
Surviving agitated ghosts, irritated witches, angry werewolves, and the horrors of high school has never been so hard.
Yuki and her friends have only begun to face the challenges of their paranormal gifts. Tensions are rising--in the pack, at school, and within their tightly knit group of friends.
The tragic death of Wakefield High student Dylan Jacobs has emotions boiling over. The J-Team, Yuki's arch nemesis, have turned the entire football team against her. They claim that Yuki is a witch and blame her for the death of their fellow teammate. Will Yuki be able to solve the mystery of Dylan's death, and the legend of Witchtrot Road, before tempers flare and things turn violent?
Oh, how I adore this series!  I have no idea how I'm going to live without the wacky Yuki and her brilliant friends when I finish this book!  Seriously, if you only ever read one ghost series, make it this one!!

Kill All EnemiesFrom Kill All Enemies by Melvin Burgess, Page 70
Tuesday morning.  Breakfast.  My parents - or should I call them my jailers - ate their morning toast supsiciously.

Kill All Enemies by Melvin Burgess

Synopsis From Goodreads:
Everyone says fourteen-year-old Billie is nothing but trouble. A fighter. A danger to her family and friends. But her care worker sees someone different. Her classmate Rob is big, strong; he can take care of himself and his brother. But his violent stepdad sees someone to humiliate. And Chris is struggling at school; he just doesn't want to be there. But his dad sees a useless no-hoper. Billie, Rob and Chris each have a story to tell. But there are two sides to every story, and the question is ...who do you believe?
Still loving this one.  So almost finished it - it's already made me cry a few times!  Amazing, amazing, amazing.
