Fortnight of Guests 2012: The Unread Reader

Howdy, Y'all. Missie, The Unread Reader, here! First, I'd like to thank Megan for letting me gush over fictional boys on her blog. It's really not enough to use my blog to talk about my favorite topic ever--boys in books--I also have to do it on other blogs too! Luckily for me, Megan was on board with the idea. Hard to believe, but I've been a reader for 30-so years now. And, as you can imagine, I've built up quite a long list of book boyfriends. But the ones I want to talk about today hold a special place in my heart. They are the ones I could read about over and over again, and never tire of.
"Silly old bear." ~Christopher Robin, Winnie the Pooh
Some of my best childhood memories revolve around the adventures I took with Pooh Bear and Christopher Robin. And, I still remember when I found out that Christopher Robin was based on a real boy. That fact blew my young mind away.
"I've loved you ever since the day you broke your slate over my head." ~Gilbert Blythe, Anne of Green Gables series
I've never wanted fiery orange hair more than when Gilbert called Anne "Carrots." My mom used to tell me that when a boy teases a girl, it means they like you, so I knew Anne was very lucky to have had Gilbert tease her about her hair.
Dare not say that a man forgets sooner than woman, that his love has an earlier death. I have loved none but you. ~Captain Frederick Wentworth, Persuasion
Maybe it has to do with the fact that Persuasion was the first Austen novel I read in high school, but I've always loved Captain Wentworth way more than that Darcy fellow. Something about the way he worked hard to acquire his fortune all for the woman he loved had me completely smitten. Plus, I can't forget That Letter!
Of course I was lying. The ‘tiny bit’ part anyway. ~Thomas Finch Mackee, The Piper’s Son

“I worked out a tattoo – if I had one.” I look at what he’s done. He’s got the outline of my hand over his heart and in it he’s written, Her. ~Ryan (Rhino), Raw Blue
What it is about Aussies that makes them so damn HOT? Tom and Rhino are two of my favorites, and if they had a Thunder from Down Under show, you better believe I'd be there to watch! P.S. I'm pairing up my Aussie, to make then one pick. I know, I'm such a cheater.
Winning ugly is still winning. Atticus O’Sullivan, The Iron Druid Chronicles
The luck of the Irish was on my side when I discovered Atticus O’Sullivan. He's adorkable, but he can also hold his own in a sword fight. I'd never read a series about druids before, but Atticus definitely proved that druids can be sexy heroes too.
"It’s better if we’re not friends. Trust me." Edward Anthony Masen Cullen, Twilight Saga
I lost count of how many times I read the Twilight books, back to back, all because of my mad love for a 107 year old teenage vampire virgin. He reawakened the reader in me, and for that I will always be eternally grateful to Eddie.
“Don’t close your eyes. Look at me, lover” ~Eric Northman, Southern Vampire Mysteries series
I don't know what it is about Vikings that makes me weak in the knees, but I will always remember that my love for them all started with Eric Northman and his hot pink Lycra.
"I'm not angry because I don't want to be there, Dutch," he said, his voice soft, hesitant. He pinned me to the spot with the seriousness of his gaze. "I'm angry because I do." ~Reyes Alexander Farrow, Charley Davidson series
He's the Son of Satan, created from beauty and sin, and he's every bit as delicious as you'd imagine him to be. But he's also stubborn as hell and very mysterious, which makes reading about him all the more exciting.
“If you run from me, I’ll chase you. And I’ll find you.” ~Crispin Phillip Arthur Russell III, Night Huntress series
Whether it's due to the fact that he has the sexiest accent I've ever read, or because he's so damn devoted to his wife, I just can't get enough of Bones.
"You're Mac," he says. "And I'm Jericho. And nothing else matters. Never will. You exist in a place that is beyond all rules for me. Do you understand that?" ~Jericho Zigor Barrons
Barrons is definitely the most captivating man I've EVER met on paper. He defies all rules regarding the perfect Alpha male, and still solidly takes the lead just by being whatever it is that he is. So, as hard as it was to narrow down the choices, that's my list of my top ten book boyfriends of all time! Of course, I reserve the right to completely change my mind because new fictional hotties are born every day! Special thanks to Megan for letting me be a guest on her blog today!
